Subject: DOCBOOK: xmlCatalogs

Hi,
I ran across the spec for xmlCatalog at oasis.  With the discussion about x:includes going on, it seems like this would be a good spec to consider (at least having chapters and other entities reference a catalog) seem to better than being able to link and include from anywhere.

My sites www.korcon.com, www.couponbanners.com, and http://rch.tzo.com, are all based on docbook and docarticle formats for the 'static' content (sorry the content isn't better) with some simple XSL sheets I've done.  However I have a portal xml file linking everything together (kind of).  I might look into using xmlCatalog to relace my current portal DOM.  Logically, it might make sense.

What do you think?  Also, it might be possible to then create a new docbook based on the catalog, including all the resources used. What fun.

Has much work been done with this?  Am I completely wrong? I have the Docbook upstairs, I guess it is time to go check it out.

After looking through the spec a little more it seems that a URI in xmlCatalog has no descriptive text which would be nice...  In the Blogger RDF is big which is kind of like a catalog.  Maybe the catalog too can have a bibliography that lets you link to anywhere :)

Happy Thanksgiving!
Roy
