I knew I should have bookmarked that link: I read an email exchange on one of the Mozilla developer lists describing the parse/validation strategy Mozilla uses. Essentially, it is "incomplete". One result is that entities such as “ stored externally to the DTD are not resolved (or normalized?). If I understand what I read and it is accurate, it may be the entity that is generating the error for you. Of course, this is a "what" response, not a "why" response. :-) ...edN
