Subject: CALS/XHTML tables: hard to implement?

Hi

From browsing various list archives etc I had the impression that
DocBook's CALS tables are hard to implement (fully and correctly).

Paul, Norm, and/or others:
Could you summarize your experience?
Would you say that CALS tables are significantly harder to implement
than XHTML tables?
Would you say that they are much harder to implement than they should be
for what they offer? (same question regarding XHTML tables if you have
experience)

If not, then there's one less argument for inclusion of XHTML tables
IMHO, from my POV.
(For why I think that ease of implementation is important and good for
users, see previous posts.)

With "implementing" I mean stuff like:

* Implementing WYSIWYG interfaces for CALS or XHTML tables.

* Transformation to FO, XHTML, etc
(XHTML tables to XHTML obviously is simple)
Also regarding validity and accessibility aspects.

TIA,
Tobi
