Yes, IMHO there is. XML (the 1.0 spec itself) is a subset of SGML (the 
form that was current when XML 1.0 was published AFAIK), thus "sgmltag" 
is appropriate for marking up xml tags, but marking them up as "xmltag" 
would simply be more specific, and thus semantically richer.

It's similiar to the increase of information and specificness there is 
between <literal>index.html</literal> and <filename>index.html</filename>.
