Hmmm, you must (unless you extend the schema) use a namespace-aware
program, anyway (nsgmls is not, obviously, and I do not know for nXML)
but it has nothing to do with Docbook, no?

The parser does not care about Docbook version, it just parses
XML. Tools above the parsers (like a validator) needs to know the
schema so you have to provide it. Any command-line example so we could
reproduce it?
