Hi Chris,
Yes, that was my point.  This isn't a stylesheet bug, but a problem with 
the DB5 content model for inlineequation.  It should be inlinemediaobject, 
for which the stylesheet does *not* generate line breaks.  Reporting it as 
a DocBook RFE will get it processed by the DocBook Technical Committee, 
which is where all schema changes must be approved.
