You're right that ePub authoring is really quite similar to web
authoring. In many ways, authoring content in DocBook should remove
some of those considerations, but there are still certain types of
content or markup that work better in print than the web (or vice
versa).

These are perfect questions for the folks at the ePub-Community
mailing list (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/epub-community/). They've
got a lot more collective knowledge about ePub and reading systems
than the folks here.
