Subject: How to remove headers

Can someone please advice me in how to completely remove all headers
from a PDF generated from an article written as DocBook xml. I've tried
to put the following in the stylesheet file used by xsltproc:

  <xsl:param name="header.rule" select="0"/>

However, the headers are still printed.
