It depends to whom it is abstract, if is too abstract for the business people
then we are in trouble, if its too abstract for technologist then we have to
wait for the technology evolution to catch up.
(i interpret abstract as different from under-defined)

My view regarding "business protocols" is that one should solve the busines
problem first then XML is an well understodd engineeering problem (just add a
few extra man hours). Using meta meta model such as MOF then XML is not an
issue at all since XML schemas and Java code for reading and writing are all
automatically generated.

But Ill agree that technology ground is nessecary in this project.
