- Objectives
1.1 Purpose
The purpose of the project is to coordinate changes to the ebXML Business
Process Specification Schema. This project will help ensure that Business
Process Specification Schema and related specifications have alignment and
support the ebXML vision of electronic commerce.
This project proposes to bring together key artifacts of work from the
ebXML project and jointly continue their development with other project
initiatives in OASIS and UN/CEFACT. These projects include, but, are not
limited to the following:
- UN/CEFACT
Modeling Methodology
- ebTWG Business Collaboration Protocol
Specification
- ebTWG Business Collaboration Patterns and
Monitored Commitments Specification
- OASIS ebXML Collaboration Protocol Profile and
Agreement
- OASIS Messaging (ebXML Transport, Routing, and
Protocol)
- OASIS Registry (ebXML Registry and Repository)
1.2 Scope
This project directly supports one of the key eBTWG deliverables -- the
Business Process Specification Schema -- as identified in the eBTWG
Mandate. The intent of this project is
to review and coordinate suggestions for change to the BPSS, make technical
improvements to the BPSS, and implement in the BPSS the substantive changes
developed by other projects in UN/CEFACT (including eBTWG and the TMWG), and to
the extent appropriate, OASIS (including ebXML Collaboration Protocol Profile
and Agreement, ebXML Messaging Services, ebXML Registry, and ebXML
Implementation, Interoperability, and Conformance).
- Deliverables
The project deliverables are:
- Business Process Specification Schema 1.1
(Initial versioning of the ebXML Business Process Specification Schema,
adding technical corrections to version 1.0 but excluding any model or
object changes other than as necessary to resolve internal
inconsistencies)
- Change log for
Business Process Specification Schema
(Updating the 1.0 log with later received comments and issues)
- Business
Process Specification Schema 1.x and 2.0
(Future versioning of the ebXML Business Process Specification Schema
document. to incorporate other ebXML work and improve the standard and
its related model and objects)
- Technical Reports and White Papers
(Additional documentation as needed)
- Identify opportunities to coordinate with other
relevant standards.
- Functional Expertise of Membership
The project team is a group of experts with broad knowledge in the areas
of:
- UN/CEFACT Modeling Methodology
- ebXML Business Process Specification Schema
- Business Process and Information Analysis
- ebXML Collaboration Protocol Profile and Agreement
- e-Business Architecture
- ebXML Messaging
Each UN/CEFACT head of delegation (HOD) may
designate one or more experts to the project team. In doing so, they may delegate this task to one or more
organizations, which may be national, regional or international. Experts are expected to contribute to the
work based solely on their expertise.
- Geographical Focus
The focus is global and cuts across vertical industries. The project
recognizes the need to support both large and small businesses who utilize
a variety of languages.
- Initial Contributions
The following contributions are submitted as part of this proposal. It is
understood that these contributions are only for consideration by the
project team and that other participants may submit additional
contributions in order to ensure that as much information as possible is
obtained from those with expertise and a material interest in the project.

resource requirements
Participants in the project shall provide resources for their own
participation. The existence and functioning of the project shall not require
any additional resources from the UN/ECE secretariat.
