Hello,
I am forwarding a speaking request for an ebXML presentation on behalf of OASIS. The engagement is an Edifice conference in Nantes, France on November 27-29.  Travel expenses are covered. Please consider this opportunity.  I appreciate your assistance in this matter.
Thank you,
Dee

Hi Dee,
Yes indeed, we are still in need of a speaker. The theme of our conference is "Integrating XML into your Business" and we are trying to get a balance between the theory and the practical by including technical presentations and actual case studies. We have no shortage of material/presenters for RosettaNet, but for some strange reason, we are experiencing great difficulty in getting any practical information on ebXML. There is a lot of interest within Edifice on the future direction of ebXML, but there is also a lot of confusion, particularly in the light of the recent statements from Jon Bosak, Peter Wilson and Ray Walker.

Edifice represents the majority of the European electronics industry and the conferences are a great way to evangelise developments and initiatives for eBusiness and to spread the adoption. This is evidenced by the fact that the Edifice  RosettaNet User/Deployment group is the only group that is actually doing any deployments of RosettaNet in Europe.

Thanks for your assistance

Kind Regards,

Alan Sture

Hi Alan,
I have not heard back yet from  my contacts regarding this speaking opportunity. Are you still in need of a speaker?
Regards,
Dee

Dee,
Thanks for your reply. As stated to Carol in the emails below, the Edifice conferences usually attract up to 40 people. At the last meeting in September, there were over 30 attendees which was very encouraging in the wake of the terrible events of September 11, and several members having to cancel their travel at the last minute.

There is  a good cross-section of job functions, from Purchasing/Procurement managers and Business Process managers to Electronic Business directors, technical implementers and Solutions Providers.

We would appreciate a presentation of 1 hour, including Questions and Answers, to include both technical and business issues. The Edifice members are no strangers to the technical side, but as I said in my initial request, we are interested in XBDL (and how it fits/competes with UBL in the light of Jon Bosak's recent email), and also the progress of actual ebXML implementations, and what the future direction is.

If there is any more information that you require, please do not hesitate to ask.

Kind Regards,

Alan Sture

Hi Alan,
I am Carol Geyer's assistant and I would be happy to assist you in finding an appropriate speaker. Before I can respond, I just have a few questions:

1. How many attendees do you expect at the EDIFICE conference?

2. What kind of attendees do you expect (titles, job responsibilities)?

3. Length of presentation? Technical or business focused presentation?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Dee Schur

Hi Carol,
In  light o the new developments surrounding ebXML, particularly XBDL and the progress of actual implementations,  I am asking once again if you could recommend a speaker to attend the next Edifice conference in Nantes, France on November 27-29.

We are particularly interested in seeing how these new projects advance the Core Components work from the earlier phase of ebXML and how the results will provide "jump start kits" for adoption.

As before, T&L expenses can be covered by Edifice.

Kind Regards,
