Subject: Contract for Interoperable Geospatial Portal Components
This note may be of interest to anyone dealing with Government movement toward components-based, services-oriented architectures and/or use of standards-based geospatial components in systems. (And, related to the upcoming OASIS EGOV TC "Workshop on services orientated architectures", I would think.) The U.S. Federal Geographic Data Committee has a strong and abiding interest in promoting a marketplace for interoperable geospatial software products and services. Accordingly, an early draft of a contracting vehicle for such products and services is posted for review at http://www.fgdc.gov/geoportal/ At this point, I am especially interested in comments from anyone who may have experience in establishing such a contract vehicle for software and services. Contracts for buying hardware components that are "plug-compatible" is common, but I'm not familiar with equivalent examples in the world of components-based services-oriented architectures. We are tracking all comments received, so I do ask that you please comment via the links embedded in the document, or directly to geoportal@fgdc.gov Thanks, Eliot
