Subject: FW: [election-services] Ballot for Chair
FYI: Apparently John's message didn't make it to the list since he was using his old email address. We'll have to break him of that habit! ;-) Regards, Mary -----Original Message----- From: Borras, John (CMC London) [mailto:john.borras@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk] Sent: Tuesday, April 25, 2006 4:59 AM To: election-services@lists.oasis-open.org; mary.mcrae@oasis-open.org Cc: 'johnaborras@yahoo.co.uk' Subject: RE: [election-services] Ballot for Chair Hello All. I'm deeply touched by the messages of support. ( At least I think that's what the old timer from out west in USA said!!) But I feel I should also apologise to all for the trouble I've caused over the recent months by my change in circumstances. That has now stabilised and being a freelance consultant I can now control my own time and destiny. As Paul intimated I have be retained by the UK's Department for Constitutional Affairs to represent them on the TC and it is also their fervent wish that I resume the chair, if everyone is comfortable with that. This promotes their continued support for EML and e-voting in general. Mary Given the votes of support from colleagues have you or the OASIS rulebook got any objections to me resuming the chair and pressing ahead with our next meeting please? Clearly the Elections TC is just too democratic in its own deliberations!! Just like the Hollywood movies - if that old sheriff is back in town - I'm voting to give him his job back - so them thur deputies can quit squabbling and git back tur work! Cheers, DW -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [election-services] Ballot for Chair From: "Mary McRae" <mary.mcrae@oasis-open.org> Date: Mon, April 24, 2006 9:54 am To: <election-services@lists.oasis-open.org> Cc: <mary.mcrae@oasis-open.org> To all TC Members: The ballot held for chair was inconclusive; that is, no candidate received the requisite 51% to be declared the winner. The TC now has a number of options available to it. I think consensus can most likely be reached on the list and then we can move forward. 1) We can hold a run-off election with the top two vote-getters, or 2) One or more candidates may choose to join forces and run as chair/co-chair There's also a new development - John Borras is now back with the TC and is willing to step back into the role of chair. In any case, we need to get someone in the role of chair, and possibly co-chair, as quickly as possible so the TC can continue to move forward with their work. We can either discuss on the list or arrange a teleconference - if you would like to have an informal meeting just let me know the date/time and I'll make sure to clear my calendar.
