Good point John, so let's be clear that the new 530 is for Statistics and if we need additional for audit then we should modify the existing schemas.

Just a word of warning, there are other EML message types that have been
designed specifically for auditing purposes,  so we have to be careful not
to extend EML 530 unnecessarily.

I'll have to find time to look at 530 and see if it lends itself well to
work like post-election auditing (where we need to be able to do various
kinds of math on unofficial totals for complicated (or simple) sample
selection, etc.). Obviously, it's not much good unless it makes it into the
vendors' products and then those products get certified (which is something
few of us have control over).
