Subject: RE: DATE OF NEXT TC MEETING
Thanks for the responses. The consensus is Monday 21st Feb. at 15.00 UK / 16.00 CET/ 10.00 EDT. We’ll have to do it by Skype if that’s OK with everybody? If not can someone let us have a conference call number to use. John From: John Borras [mailto:johnaborras@yahoo.co.uk] For those of you who haven’t indicated your preferences on Doodle can you do so asap please so we can fix the date of the next meeting. http://doodle.com/qeiuznfvmspby387 Thanks, John From: John Borras [mailto:johnaborras@yahoo.co.uk] I’m very pleased to be able to report that at their workshop yesterday, the IEEE/P1622 committee approved the use of EML as the basis for their future standards work. This is a very significant decision because it almost certainly means that the USA EAC (Election Assistance Commission) will in future specify EML/P1622 as the standard to used in USA e-enabled elections. The first of these will be for the UOCAVA (The Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Assistance in Voting Act) system scheduled for the Presidential elections in 2012. Whilst this is very good news it does at the same time put the pressure on us to maintain EML to the highest standard, get the new release out in the required time, and IMO get EML into ISO without too much further delay. To that end I would like to schedule a TC call to review the current work by David and Neal on v7, agree a timetable for that, and our strategy for going forward with IEEE and ISO. Could please indicate in the Doodle poll your availability for a call and I’ll let you know the outcome asap - http://doodle.com/qeiuznfvmspby387 Regards John Borras Chair OASIS E&VS Technical Committee m. +(0)44 7976 157745 Skype: gov3john |
