Possible added CAP Profiles Task

Just an FYI for CAP Profiles SC members…

During today’s EM-TC call, the following discussion occurred on a potential future task for our committee:

- Gary Ham reported (and Elysa heard it from Mark Lucero as well) that NWS has pre-assigned CAP Urgency/Severity/Certainty values for certain weather alerts that would rise to the level of triggering CMAS for alerts not necessarily important enough for CMAS dissemination.  NWS does not want to change their U/S/C value pre-assignments, so Gary Ham’s solution is to amend the OASIS CAP IPAWS Profile to include a new Parameter element called “Block Channels” to list dissemination channels that the originator does not want the alert to be routed to.  To be discussed further between FEMA and OASIS.
