Subject: Response to issue raised by Camille Alexander re: edxl-cap1 2-au-v1 0-wd01-EJ-11-28.docx [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
UNCLASSIFIED Camille, Thanks for highlighting this – I can see the ambiguity. · REFERENCES Note 3) states: In the case of an <info> element that does not include an <expires> time, all further messages in the chain SHOULD include a reference to that message since it does not expire on its own. · INFO Note 5) state: In the case of an <info> element that does not have an <expires> time, all further messages in the chain should include a reference to the message containing the <info> element, since it does not expire on its own. Could the <info> block be EXCLUDED from a CAP-AU message? Yes, as it's USE is specified as Optional Can an <info> element exist WITHOUT an <expires> sub-element? Answer is technically NO because we now state in the Section 2.2 INFO element header that: Any <info> sub-elements whose use is specified as REQUIRED, are only mandatory inclusions when the <info> element is to be included in a CAP-AU message. This means that <expires> is REQUIRED whenever the <INFO> block is included in a CAP-AU message. So an <info> element should not exist without inclusion of <expires>. Therefore, I now believe that Notes 3 and 5 are invalid, and should be removed. Any observations from anyone? Regards, Greg Trott CAP-AU Project Manager From: emergency-cap-profiles@lists.oasis-open.org [mailto:emergency-cap-profiles@lists.oasis-open.org] On Behalf Of Camille Alexander Pg 13 References element note 3 calls out the case where an <info> element does not include an expires time. Is this consistent with decision to make <expires> element required when there is an <info> element? Same comment on pg 16 Info element note 5.
