Subject: Fwd: Re: [emergency] Long Term Liaisons

Hi Allen, GIS SC, Eliot, Carl,

I am forwarding the second note I received from Carl Reed yesterday.
I have not included the April 2003 CIPI zip file because it is 2.23Mb
and I wanted to give Allen, the GIS SC, and Eliot the choice of
having me send it separately since some govt and corporate IT email
clients won't accept large files.

At the same time, Carl, even though you said that you had joined the
EMTC I note that your name has not yet been added to the roster, so,
let me see if I can explain the procedure for joining the TC and
getting access to call info, which I am copying from the note Eliot
sent to me when I was encountering the same process for joining the
GIS Subcommittee. I have changed it for the EMTC

>First, go to the OASIS home page and click on "Members Only".
>Once you supply your userid and password, you should be at
> http://www.oasis-open.org/members/
>
>Next, click on "All Groups" from the pick list on the left side.
>This should take you to
> http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/portal/
>
>Look for "Emergency Management TC" and click on it.
>Now you should be at
> http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/emergency
>
>Just above the "Group Description", click on the hyperlink that
says "Join This Group".

The chair, Allen Wyke will be notified with a request to approve you
as a prospective member, and you will be added to the voting members
roster after you attend 3 successive TC meetings or 60 days passes.

You can then access the calendar tab on the TC page for Members and
click on the dates that show the meeting icons (telephone receivers
for teleconferences and cartoon-style message bubbles for face to
face meetings, etc.) for info.

As a chair of another TC and two other SCs, I had never signed up for
a TC or SC other than as a founding member or during the process of
forming SCs, so I actually didn't know how to do that until
yesterday, when I had to have it explained to me, even though it
seems simple in hindsight. However, it just shows you that I can look
right at something and fail to see it, and I'm a graphic designer by
trade!

My last note: if any of you are going to SIGGRAPH 2003, and are
interested in the Cartography BOF meeting, the open source geospatial
VR project mentioned below is the 3Map Planet-Earth project included
in my long term liaison message. As with the e-gov meeting Eliot
attended last week, I would love to hear about this year's carto BOF,
and here is the info:

Hi ACM SIGGRAPH Carto Colleagues:

Just another email on our annual ACM SIGGRAPH Carto BOF
session:

http://www.siggraph.org/~rhyne/carto/

Our session is set for:

Wednesday of the SIGGRAPH 2003 week (July 30th),
12:30 - 1:30 PM in Room 24B of the Convention Center.

Chris Thorne and Viveka Weiley will discuss their
open source geospatial VR project. Other presenters
are welcome. If you are interested, please send me an
email -> (rhyne@siggraph.org).

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Smiles... Theresa-Marie
