RE: Meeting notes from OCT 28, 2003 teleconference

In Attendance: Carl, Bill S., Rex b., Eliot C, Tom M.

 

1. Suggestion that Carl re-work operational picture slide and split into 3 slides for ease of comprehension. Carl took action.

 

2. Talked about collaboration between various organizations, such as OASIS, OGC, Earth Observation, etc. Agreement that we need to continue dialogue with these organizations. Carl updated group on the fact that OASIS/OGC has begun initial dialogue on liaison possibilities - within the OASIS liaison guidelines.

 

3. Talked a bit more about ICS 201, VoiceXML, and the Broadcast industry. Just brainstorming, no decisions or recommendations.

 

4. Eliot spoke a bit about Component Based GIS and the work he has been involved in.

 

5. Rex to provide details about the Dec. 9 Expedition Collaboration (Part of FIA)

 

6. The group as a whole agreed that it would be good if the TC could provide a RoadMap of activity for the next 6 to 12 months so that the GIS group would better know when resources will be required to meet the needs of the TC. The current ad-hoc approach of requesting review and input makes it difficult for organizations to allocate proper resources to address the issues as they arise.

 

7. Talked a bit about the term "layer" as used in various documents. Agreement that we (OASIS) needs a standard definition of the term "layer".
