Subject: RE: Notes from April 23 2010 Geo-GIS SC teleconference

Hannes, Rex, Carl, Doug

1. Doug did a short brief on Geospatial presentation of CAP messages in Canadian context. Gave briefing to Virtual USA and showed Canadian application, including "layers". Met with Dr. Boyd. Much enthusiasm for the approach.

2. Tactical Situation Object - Official CEN note - a year or two away from completing the ISO track. Has been in existence since 2002. Relatively mature. Aimed at machine to machine communication. Based in part on CAP. Have no idea on well implemented it is. From NCOIC perspective, create a new pattern and are adjudicating change requests. Has some situational components in the spec. For OASIS purposes, may be sufficiently useful from say Point of Interest or Cursor on Target types of applications. TSO, however, is always associated with an event. This may cause some issues in terms of EM deployments. Perhaps OASIS can profile TSO so that the focus is small and could just be something like a traffic accident. Another point: What is the actual scope of what we are trying to accomplish? Problem with the use of the word "situation" - semantics related to origins in the France community.

3. Carl and Hannes will get together at GITA and discuss "where" go forward.

4. Talked about the IETF LO (Location Object) RFC (GML application schema). Could take this schema and add a few pieces if required. Then would be consistent with IETF and NENA NG 911 activities. Asked about the IETF civic RFC also: http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5139
