Registration is now open for this event, sponsored by U.S. Department of Homeland Security (Science and Technology Directorate and the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office). Please see formal invitation attached and summary below. If your plans are uncertain, please make your reservations now and cancel later if necessary.

 

Deadlines: Jan. 22 for hotel rooms (because it’s high season in Santa Fe) and Jan. 25 for summit registration (because of lab security requirements).

 

WHAT: Homeland Security Science and Technology Summit - South Central (FEMA Region VI)

 

WHEN: February 9-10, 2010

 

WHERE: Sandia National Laboratories and Los Alamos National Laboratory - New Mexico

 

WHO: State and tribal homeland security/emergency management officials from FEMA Region VI (Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas) plus representatives of DHS, the national laboratories mentioned above and other partners. 

 

WHY: Increase resilience by increasing regional science and technology awareness and collaboration, spotlighting the capabilities offered by DHS and the local labs. Reflecting the most prominent homeland security issues of this region, this event will emphasize border security and natural disasters.
