Subject: RE: [emergency] RE: Opportunity for CAP? State CIOs Plan System To Warn Public Of Danger

Free to subscribe but sponsored. Read the Terms of Agreement.

Works like radio or TV. You get the service but agree to the
commercials. Not a bad business model if the content is free
to the distributor and even acceptable if the license is low.
How many people wait for the weather report in the morning
rather than look out the window?

Yes. Hail Mary patents. If the cost of getting the patent
isn't too high, it's worth the attempt. It is one way to
slow down imitators and aggregators who can gang feeds and
reduce costs; like other broadcast models, rates can
vary to sponsors depending on the rating of the service.
So the best deal is to get exclusive rights from the
content originators somewhat like the legal information
service providers.

'Patent Pending' on every single webpage? I also see mention of
licensing and 'proprietary messaging' in many places.

The last time I checked there wasn't a provider out there that would do
SMS for free. What am I missing? Just an observation...
