Subject: Public Warning Challenge
As I noted here before, the Internet Society is inviting any organization involved in an aspect of public warning to endorse this statement: Collaborative actions are necessary to assure that standards-based, all-media, all-hazards public warning becomes an essential infrastructure component available to all societies worldwide. The Web site that provides background to this Challenge statement ( http://www.isoc.org/challenge ) references the OASIS Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) standard. At http://www.isoc.org/challenge/endorsements.php you can see that the list of endorsing organizations now includes: - Alliance for Earth Observations - AMBER Alert Consortium - ComCARE Alliance - Critical Distance - Emergency Interoperability Consortium - Global Spatial Data Infrastructure (GSDI) - incident.com - Internet Society (ISOC) - National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) - NOAA's National Weather Service - NYU Center for Catastrophe Preparedness & Response - Partnership for Public Warning - PubSub Concepts, Inc. - Teton Tectonics - United Nations International Startegy for Disaster Reduction (UN/ISDR) Platform for the Promotion of Early Warning - United States Geological Survey (USGS) This is already an impressive list, but additional endorsements are certainly welcome! Eliot
