messageSender/RecipientRole

In the last meeting minutes (dated the 5th day of the 31st month ;-)
it says that the message element contains the messageSenderRole and
messageRecipientRole elements.

For clarification, are these used in determining the routing of
individual messages (within a single distribution element)?

How do they relate to senderRole and recipientRole in the top-level
distribution element?
