Sure, you can define (and identify) a data type in XML Schema, but what I was originally referring to was developing a unique vocabulary for the terms used in Status and Type (not dependent on an XML Schema). For example, if you look at page 40 of the SAML spec [1], you can see the vocab terms used are all urn identified. Cheers...
