Subject: RE: [emergency] RE: EDXL-DE and misrepresentation in the market

I would also like to get some specifics, email me directly if necessary.  I am also very careful to make sure we are always talking about the DRAFT.  Thanks, Elysa

Thanks,

I echo Carl's observations. This is occurring in two different market segments and is creating a major obstacle in trying to obtain consensus on the national level. We need to put a stop to this or we will spend many hours untangling the confusion.

Subject: [emergency] RE: EDXL-DE and misrepresentation in the market
All -

I hate to bring issues such as this up to the TC. However, it has come to my attention that someone is representing EDXL-DE as an approved OASIS standard in discussions and presentations. The representation as EDXL-DE as an OASIS standard may not be intentional, just a result of enthusiasm. Whatever the cause, this misrepresentation is causing confusion in the market to the extent that they are potential policy implications.

Such confusion and misrepresentation does a disservice to both the draft EDXL-DE specification and the OASIS standards setting process. Having worked for a standards setting organization for almost 5 years, I am especially sensitive to these situations.

I can only ask that we all be careful in how we represent the ongoing standards work in OASIS. Otherwise, we risk diminishing the effectiveness of our collaborative standards setting process while at the same time creating unnecessary conflict and confusion in the marketplace.
