RE: Sensors and sensor standards - clarification please

Hi -

 

Sorry, but I need some help understanding the semantics of the use in this TC of the term "sensor standards". IEEE 1451 has developed and approved a class of sensor standards. ISO TC 204 is defining and seeking approval of a set of abstract sensor interface and encoding standards for telematics (in car sensor systems), and the OGC is defining and approving a set of interface and encoding standards for discovery, access, description, and tasking of sensors.

 

I do not think that the EM TC is looking to develop this class of standards. I think what we are talking about are how to express information as part of an EDXL payload about a sensor or a sensor observation that has been provided by one of the standards mentioned above.

 

Am I correct?
