Please read and respond: Activities and Priorities for the EM-TC

Friends,

I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer.  Those of you who have
not been active in the EM-TC work may not know what has been going on
with our work.  Just a few summary highlights below:

• CAP 1.2 has been approved as an OASIS Standard
• DE 2.0 - Use cases have been reviewed, requirements developed and a draft has begun.  There are a few issues yet to be worked out but the hope is to have a Committee Draft (CD) ready for TC review this quarter with 60-day Public Review (PR) planned for 4Q.
• SitRep - Now in the final stages of development with the CD planned for October and 60-day PR before the end of the year.  The bulk of the writing has started and there remain a few issues to be resolved, but the group is working to this target.
• HAVE 2.0 - We now have a Hospital AVailability Exchange SC stood up and actively meeting to work on the follow-on the next release.  They are taking input from the heavy field use of HAVE in Haiti to improve this Standard.
• CAP 2.0 - A SC has been stood up and co-chairs assigned but not yet meeting regularly to address the next major release of CAP.
• TEP (Tracking of Emergency Patients) - This new work product has been accepted but not yet assigned to be worked.  An introduction has been done and an informal request for participation forwarded.  On the next EM-TC meeting, motions for subcommittee and chairs will provided.  An overall OASIS EM-TC educational session will be scheduled for Wednesday, August 25 at 4pm EDT as an outreach activity.  General target is to engage SC activity beginning of October.

Of course much behind the scenes work has gone on with the RIM and
GIS Subcommittees (SC) in support of the other SCs as well although no
specific Standard is being developed.

A big THANK YOU to those of you who have been able to devote time to the
work of open standards for emergency management through the summer! 

As you can see, there is much work to do in our TC.  I would like at
this time to get input from ALL of you will respect to 1) 
Priorities you see from your unique perspective and 2)  Where you
might  like to be involved.  Everyone has input on these two
points.  Your company, customer and/or personal background has lead
you to join this TC and I would like to hear from you.  What do you
see as the priorities?  Are there places you would like to get
involved but have been hesitant for some reason?  Chairs, editors,
writers and reviewers are all critically important to developing these
Standards.  YOUR input is important and I want to be sure you feel
comfortable dialing in to calls and getting involved.  If there is
anything the SC chairs or I can do to help you find a way to plug in,
please don't hesitate to ask.
