Hi,

We are in process of assembling a sub-committee for the Public Safety and Security  theme for GeoWeb 2011.  GeoWeb 2011 focuses on system of systems problems that deal with the physical world.  The themes for 2011 are:

1.       Public Safety and Security

2.       Urban Infrastructure and Transportation

3.       Air Traffic Management

4.       Smart Grids and Utilities

5.       Business and Consumer

6.       Environment and Climate Change

If you are interested in being on the Public Safety and Security Sub-committee please write to me  rlake@galdosinc.com.  Interoperability and standards are clearly critical issues.

Sincerely,

Ron

Subject: Call for Nominations for the OASIS Emergency Interoperability (EI) Member Section Steering Committee

OASIS Members,

Three seats on the OASIS Emergency Interoperability (EI) Member Section (MS) Steering Committee [1] are open for nominations. Two seats will serve two year terms and one seat will serve a one year term.   All EI MS participants are invited to nominate qualified candidates and/or serve on the Steering Committee. If you aren't currently active in the EI Member Section, now is a great time to join.

OASIS EI accelerates the development, adoption, application, and implementation of emergency interoperability standards and related work. The MS endeavors to represent and serve the needs of all constituents, from practitioners to technology providers including national, international and multinational oversight agencies.

The nomination and election procedures for the Steering Committee are defined by the OASIS Member Section Policy [2] and the EI Member Section Rules of Procedure [3].

Any EI MS participant [4] may nominate or be nominated as a candidate for the Steering Committee. Any OASIS member may join the EI MS [5]. The process to join is simple but it must be completed during the nomination period.

Each EI MS Supporting Entity has one Qualified Elector who casts the single vote on behalf of his/her organization. Unless otherwise designated, the organization's Primary Representative serves as the Qualified Elector.

The Primary Rep may defer the voting member role to another employee member by sending an email to member-services@oasis-open.org; any such change should be completed prior to the election.

NOMINATION & ELECTION SCHEDULE

Nominations will be held 22 October - 11 November 2010.

The election will be held 15 - 29 November 2010.

NOMINATION PROCESS

Any EI MS participant may nominate a candidate via email to:  nominations@oasis-open.org.

Prior to being confirmed as a candidate, each nominee must:

1. Accept the nomination

2. Confirm his/her ability to meet the time commitments of the position (participation in a two-hour teleconference each month, promote the work of the Member Section);

3. Provide background information and a position statement describing his/her qualifications and motivations for serving on the Steering Committee; and

4. Be a participant in the EI Member Section.

We encourage all EI MS participants to consider serving on the Steering Committee. Please contact (member-services@oasis-open.org) with any questions you might have regarding this process.

Regards,

Jane
