One seat will be held for two years, one for one year. All Blue MS participants are invited to nominate qualified candidates and/or serve on the Steering Committee. If you aren't currently active in the Blue Member Section, now is a great time to join. The OASIS Blue Member Section advances open standards for smart energy grids and intelligent buildings. OASIS Blue is committed to leveraging the innovation and advances of eCommerce standards and the power of the Internet to achieve meaningful sustainability. The nomination and election procedures for the Steering Committee are defined by the OASIS Member Section Policy [2] and the Blue Member Section Rules of Procedure [3]. Any Blue MS participant [4] may nominate or be nominated as a candidate for the Steering Committee. Any OASIS member may join the Blue MS [5]. The process to join is simple but it must be completed during the nomination period. Each Blue MS Supporting Entity has one Qualified Elector who casts the single vote on behalf of his/her organization. Unless otherwise designated, the organization's Primary Representative serves as the Qualified Elector. The Primary Rep may defer the voting member role to another employee member by sending an email to member-services@oasis-open.org; any such change should be in place before the ballot is cast. NOMINATION & ELECTION SCHEDULE Nominations will be accepted 6 - 30 November 2009. The election will be held 2 - 18 December 2009. NOMINATION PROCESS Any Blue MS participant may nominate a candidate via email to: nominations@oasis-open.org. Prior to being confirmed as a candidate, each nominee must: 1. Accept the nomination by email to nominations@oasis-open.org 2. Confirm his/her ability to meet the time commitments of the position (participation in a two-hour teleconference each month, promote the work of the Member Section); 3. **Provide background information and a position statement describing his/her qualifications and motivations for serving on the Steering Committee; and 4. Be a participant in the Blue Member Section. ELECTION PROCESS The two new Steering Committee members will be selected by the Blue MS Qualified Electors, using the Single Transferable Voting (STV) process - Scottish Method [6]. STV considers each voter's ranked preference for candidates, in order to more accurately reflect the wishes of the electorate. The candidate receiving the highest preference will win the two year seat. The candidate with the highest preference, with the two year winner removed from consideration, will win the one year seat. Blue MS Qualified Electors will be sent detailed voting instructions separately. Results will be announced immediately after they are tabulated and confirmed. We encourage all Blue MS participants to consider serving on the Steering Committee. Please contact (member-services@oasis-open.org) with any questions you might have regarding this process. Thanks for your participation in this process. Please feel welcome to ask any questions.
