Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (EMIX-64) 291 - Point of Deliveryis not defined.

Edward Cazalet commented on EMIX-64:

This response applies to issue 64, 65 and 66

The commenter is correct in asking for a better definition of point of delivery and use of IEC CIM definition if possible.

There are many locations or points of interest that we need to define in eMIX and Energy Interop. Some are in the CIM (at least what I can find based on a quick review)..

For scheduling of energy transactions CIM provides a receipt point and a delivery point ( I can't find any further definition of these two points in the CIM).

For an energy transaction between two parties the transaction point of delivery is the location on the grid where the exchange of power takes place under the transaction. The buyer would be responsible for T&D costs and losses from the point of delivery to whatever other location of interest and the seller would be responsible to any T&D charges to the point of delivery. In this case a distinct delivery point and scheduling point are not relevant. However should the parties to the transaction schedule the delivery of the power with an ISO/RTO or a Transmission Operator, then the seller would submit a schedule with a delivery point at the transaction point of delivery and a possibly different receipt point and the other party would submit a schedule with a receipt point at the transaction point of delivery and a possibly different delivery point.

Often the point of delivery is a Generator or a Customer Meter, in which case the point of delivery is the same as the meter location and is implied by the MeterID. Note that many transactions may take place at hub locations where there is no meter and where the transactions allows have a net zero delivery at that location.

Transaction offers also may specify a price over a wide area such that many potential delivery points are included.

Clearly more work is needed to carefully structure our definitions of locations and points in EMIX, Energy Interop and perhaps the CIM.
