Subject: Moving to closing issues in Jira - Proposed Resolution, Resolutionor Comment

All --

Please make comments on the issues you have the strongest interest in -- it's not just the owner/assignee, any of us can make comments at any time.

And getting them in can guide whoever is assigned as they complete the resolution.

The work flow for issues in Jira is:
  1. New
  2. Open
  3. Resolved
  4. Applied
  5. Closed
The rest of this email addresses the nuts and bolts of Jira issues.  It's not always clear how the resolutions and comments work:

(0) To make a comment, display the issue. On the left Nav Bar under Operations you should see "Comment on this issue".  Click and fill in your comment.  If you make a mistake in a comment you can edit it later.

(1) For any issue (OPEN or NEW only please) you can edit ) and update or extend the Proposed Resolution. Please modify the Resolution box if and only if you're the assigned person -- instead add comments or list your name and suggested changes or additions to the Proposed Resolution box.  Anyone moving an issue to Closed should be looking at those spots and all the comments.

(2) The odd think is that when you "resolve" an issue you can't fill in the Resolution and Proposed Resolution boxes - edit it prior to moving to resolved.

(3) The assignee will move it to Resolved state in the work flow after considering all comments and proposals

(4) A detailed comment is best if there's a significant explanation involved. Again, a TC member should be looking at all comments at the time they complete the resolution and move the issue to Resolved

(5) If you raise new issues (for example an issue with a dozen parts was closed, but you think we need further discussion on one of those) please make sure it's against the correct Version - right now the "Affected Version" is wd22.  DO NOT LEAVE THAT ITEM BLANK as there have been some problems of issues not displaying with incomplete information.

(6) It's OK to leave "Fix Version" blank; the chairs and editors will take care of that as needed.

Questions to the list or to me, please.

Thanks!
