Subject: Jira work flow, steps to move from Open to Resolved

The Jira work flow defined for OASIS TC projects (so this applies to EITC, EMIX, and WS-Calendar) is
  • New
  • Open
  • Resolved
  • Applied
  • Closed
We've opened all new issues, i.e., moved from New to Open.

To move an issue from Open to Resolved:

(a) "Edit this Issue" (in Operations, near the bottom of the left nav bar)
  • Fill in the proposed resolution and resolution.
  • Make sure that "Affects" is set to PR02 (or later), and that "Fixed" is left "unknown".
  • While you're editing ensure that "Environment" shows the reporter (shown on the left nav bar in Jira).
  • You can also fill in a comment while you're editing.
NOTE that you CAN NOT change or include the Resolution in step (c) !

(b) Click OK to close the editing window.

(c) Select "Resolve Issue"
  • The resolution MUST be selected from the drop down menu - Fixed, ..., Won't Fix, No Action - the latter two are very close and essentially equivalent; I prefer "No Action."
  • Change assignee to the reporter (if a TC member), William Cox if not.,
  • You may also add a comment when you make the move from Open to Resolved.

(d) Click OK in the resolve issue editing window.

IF the appropriate resolution is to defer post 1.0 in your opinion, select "Defer Issue" rather than "Resolve Issue."

The Chairs and Editor will work together to deal with post-approval transitions (to "Applied" and then to "Closed").

Thanks!
