I just thought I'd post a quick note -- there's now an
implementation of the OASIS XML Catalogs facility
in CVS.  This lets you do things like cope with system
IDs that got mangled when you moved files between
systems, use local DTDs rather than remote ones, and
even splice in DTDs for documents that omit them.

For the moment, the best way to get this is either to
update your CVS copy of GNUJAXP and rebuild,
or if you're using the "1.0beta1" release, just get
the source to that one file from the CVS browser
(follow link at the bottom of the page, then follow
the "jaxp" link under "Get the Software") and rebuild.

Running it relies on having the latest SAX extensions
in your classpath, but it should work (degraded
functionality) with parsers that don't support the new
EntityResolver APIs.  For the moment, that's
pretty much everything except AElfred2.

I know of two minor bugs, but suspect that it'll
be possible to uncover others.  Drop a line, and
fixes should be forthcoming.
