Subject: [geolang-comment] what is a language

The UNESCO Red Book of Dangered Languages is a true PSI source. Did someone
mention it before?

http://www.tooyoo.l.u-tokyo.ac.jp/Redbook/index.html

They even have URLs (nor for each language mentioned, but try
http://www.helsinki.fi/~tasalmin/europe_report.html#Romani)

I think this is pretty close to what we want to do. Well, not
machine-ledgible :-(

They seem to use a rather relaxed definition of what a "language" is, see:
*Germany*
Polabian
Lower Sorbian
Upper Sorbian
Eastern Frisian
Northern Frisian
Dutch
Low Saxon (Low German proper)
Luxembourgian (Moselle Franconian)
High German (proper)
Alemannic (incl. Swiss German) [known as Swabian in Germany]
Bavarian (incl. Austrian German)
Danish
Romani
[Yiddish also reported]
