Subject: RE: Symbols, Signs and Signals + HM.Requirements: dynamic additi ons
That's a good short analysis. Consider that one of the processes that occurs in meeting is to negotiate the schema for subsequent transactions. This ability to dynamically build a useful schema from parts based on recognized patterns is fundamental. That is one reason to have a means to include different code sets and reason by analogy. That schema is an emergent control and you could consider it an effect of what Prueitt refers to as ontological entanglement. One can use different strategies; for example, come to a common understanding by analogy, or engage a mediator. The mediator might then use a process that relies on analogical reasoning or other tactical processes. If you want to look at earlier applications of process modeling, you could do a search on IDEF0 and IDEF3. The KBSI company provide some great tools and sites for this. At one time, they also provided an SGML process definition (DTD). IDEF inherits from the earlier SADT model. len -----Original Message----- From: Ranjeeth Kumar Thunga [mailto:rkthunga@humanmarkup.org] At first, I didn't quite able to understand the process model too well, but I had the opportunity to correspond with Rex. My understanding (with simple examples) is how to get... from :-) to :-| to :-( OR Happiness --> to smile OR BloodLust---> to Violence ------------------- My understanding is that different types of dynamic characteristics (i.e. processes) should be incorporated into the design...thus, here is my input for the HM.Requirements Document: --------------------------------------------------------------- The HumanML may be dynamic, in several senses: -represent different perspectives, additional perspectives (tying in with different perceptions, different authorities) -represent changes due to more refined definitions (greater and greater amounts of cultural data...) -represent changes due to prolonged interaction (happiness turning to boredom the longer the seminar goes on--as seen in the example above) -represent changes due to changing personality, opinion, views, new learnings (new insights, ideas, understandings create different interpretations)
