Subject: Re: [humanmarkup] Humanmarkup.org server down
Hi Manos, There appears to be a DNS error. I can't ping or tracert the www.humanmarkup.org site. If I knew what the actual IP address was for the www.humanmarkup.org site I could try getting there that way, but since the DNS isn't returning an IP I can't find out what it is. I've run across this type of event a number of times. It might be that the servers are running fine, but that there is a Denial of Service Attack occuring on an IP address within the same address range as that of the HumanMarkup.org site. Sometimes when this occurs, they will lock out a range of addresses until the attack has been stopped. Unfortunately, this keeps many people from accessing other sites within the range of the effected ones. It could also be regional - those people that come in from one region are effected, while others that have a different route in will not be effected. It is usually cleared up within a couple hours, sometimes days. (This is assuming that there isn't some major problem with network) In checking other sites it appears that I am also unable to reach CNN at the moment. Although the DNS is returning the current IP address, unlike for the www.humanmarkup.org --- ping www.humanmarkup.org Unknown host www.humanmarkup.org --- for CNN - ----- Pinging cnn.com [207.25.71.29] with 32 bytes of data: Request timed out.
