2. Review the java.net article for ICOM JPA framework

3. AOB

1. The following eligible members were present

Deirdre Lee

Patrick Durusau

Chancellor Pascale

Eric Chan

2. Review the java.net article for ICOM JPA framework

Who is the audience for the article?

The audience is the developers who may extend the ICOM JPA framework and integrate it with their applications.

How does the article differ from the official specification?

Eric explained that the article goes into more detail on why certain choices were made (the rationale) and how things can be implemented, whereas the specification only defines the formal definition of the model. The specification currently is in a draft status, so is not yet in the public domain. The article emphasizes the architecture (how components fit together), design rationale (why part), and programming examples (how part), while providing the detailed model from the specification (what part). These are relatively high-level information for the developers who work at the source code level.

Patrick made the point that if/when the specification becomes an actual standard, it may have evolved, and will then not be consistent with the information in the article.

Deirdre proposed to narrow the article into 1/2 pages for publication in a leading technical magazine, in order to publicize/disseminate the project.

Patrick to condense the original article to a short article to give the gist of the project.

The java.net has moved to a beta site which is accessible from http://kenai.com/.

Please send comments to Eric over the next week.

3. AOB

The Meeting was adjourned.
