Subject: [ihc] Commission on Systemic Interoperability Story Version # 2
http://www.ihealthbeat.org/index.cfm?Action=dspItem&itemID=106045 Bush, Frist Name Health IT Commission Members October 05, 2004 President Bush and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) on Friday named the initial members of the Commission on Systemic Interoperability, which will recommend standards for establishing a universal health records system, Government Computer News reports. According to the White House, Bush will appoint as chair Scott Wallace, president and CEO of the National Alliance for Health Information Technology. He also will appoint Dr. C. Martin Harris, CIO of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and chair of the National Health Information Infrastructure Task Force of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, and Dr. William Stead, associate vice chancellor for health affairs and director of the informatics program center at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Frist named to the commission Ivan Seidenberg, chair and CEO of Verizon Communications, and Vicky Gregg, CEO of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. The group, which will eventually have 11 members, must recommend standards by November 2005. The speaker of the House, the Senate minority leader and the House minority leader will name the commission's remaining members (Mosquera, Government Computer News, 10/4). The new Medicare Modernization Act established the commission, which is responsible for working with the public and private health sectors to develop a strategy and timeline for implementing health care IT standards (Frist press release, 10/1). ---- Original message ---- >Date: Tue, 5 Oct 2004 13:13:34 -0400 (EDT) >From: "Carl Mattocks" <carlmattocks@checkmi.com> >Subject: [ihc] Commission on Systemic Interoperability >To: ihc@lists.oasis-open.org > > >I am a member of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) whose >prseident was appointed to the Commission on Systemic Interoperability . >Does anyone else have any ( 1-6 degrees of separation) connections ? > > >http://speaker.house.gov/library/health/041001medicare.shtml >The Commission on Systemic Interoperability was established by Section >1012 of the Medicare Modernization Act.
