Subject: RE: [kmip] Groups - kmip-spec-1.0-cd-05-nomarkups.doc -- commentson 7.2, 7.3
Hello Robert, In 7.2 Table 187 and 7.3 Table 191, Synchronous and Asynchronous Response Batch Item, the Comment for Unique Batch Item ID "REQUIRED if Batch Count > 1, see 6.4" is inconsistent with 6.4: "This field is optionally contained in a request, and is used for correlation between requests and responses. If a request has a Unique Batch Item ID, then responses to that request SHALL have the same Unique Batch Item ID." The issue is that, even in the case of a single-item batch, if the client provides a Unique Batch Item ID in the Request, the server must return the matching Unique Batch Item ID in the Response. Suggested text for Tables 187 and 191 is "REQUIRED if provided in Request Batch Item, see 6.4". I think these changes can wait for the next editiorial revision. The Usage Guide or Use Cases may also want to illustrate this case. Regards, Steve W.
