Regarding Skype, my thought is that anyone in the conference room who can use Skype to connect to the conference bridge would be speaking over their laptop/table microphone. That way we would hopefully have less problems with audio quality than in the past (assuming there aren’t feedback problems with volume from the speakerphone).
