Subject: RE: [legalxml-courtfiling] File Transmission @@2542

Dr. Leff,

Thanks for sharing the article. If Pfizer can go the route of XML
documents with the level of complexity of their environment, that seems
a good sign that one day the courts could move in that route also.

Subject: [legalxml-courtfiling] File Transmission @@2542

Pfizer is consolidating its regulatory submissions using XML in
operations
spanning thirty "document management systems" and
twenty-six countries. The U. S. Food and Drug Administration
requires, effective October, that pharmaceutical companies are
required to submit changes in product labeling in an XML format.

They anticipate using Documentum and Arbortext software. They are also
working on converting their existing Word Documents to XML. One of
the problem with Word documents is "the opportunity for variability."
