The U. S. Food and Drug Administration requires, effective October, that pharmaceutical companies are required to submit changes in product labeling in an XML format. They anticipate using Documentum and Arbortext software. They are also working on converting their existing Word Documents to XML. One of the problem with Word documents is "the opportunity for variability."
