.LP The OASIS Legal XML Member Section e-Contracts Technical Committee announced that its members approved the Contract 1.0 as a Committee draft. This standard provides XML Markup that should enable the efficient creation, maintenance, management, exchange and publication of contract documents. It emphasizes the narrative text and thus covers ticket contracts, standard form business and consumer contracts and supports a broad community of those preparing, negotiating and using contract documents. It also is suitable for the documents associated with the click-through agreements that are ubiquitious on the web, particularly End-User License Agreements (EULA's). .LP The schema was specifically designed to support precedent documents, documents thatmight be modified and reused in different situations or document fragments that might be included in many different contracts. This makes the schema ideal for supporting back-end processing systems with different end users using their choice of open-source or proprietary word processing software. .LP All interested parties are encouraged to participate in the OASIS Legal XML Member Section Technical Committee, which remains open to new contributions. As with all consortium projects, archives of the Committee's work are accessible to both members and non-members, and OASIS hosts an open mail list for public content on the work. .LP Additional Information: .LP OASIS Legal XML Member Section eContracts Technical Committee http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/legalxml-econtracts .LP About OASIS: .LP OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards) is a not-for-profit, international consortium that drives the development, convergence, and adoption of e-business standards.
