Subject: [legalxml-intjustice] XML Structure Report
Greetings, At the Integrated Justice Technical Committee face-to-face meeting in Sacramento, California on October 29, 2002, we spent a considerable amount of time discussing the Justice XML Data Dictionary effort supported by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice Programs, US Department of Justice. Reference was made to a report discussing structure and design issues associated with developing, implementing and maintaining such a dictionary. That report, written by John Wandelt and Mark Kindl, GTRI, has been published and is available at the OJP IT web site: http://www.it.ojp.gov. Select "Justice XML Initiative" from the left margin, under "Key Initiatives". You will see the report as the first item in the list of resources about mid-page. Here is the direct link to the report: http://it.ojp.gov/initiatives/files/JusticeXMLStructureTaskForceReport.doc Work in development of the Justice XML Data Dictionary has, of course, continued, but this report provides important background and fundamental principles that will continue to influence and guide this critical effort.
