In the October Fourteenth issue of Far Eastern Economic Review, there is an article on arbitration in Singapore. Singapore is taking advantage of its "squeaky clean image" to bring in business to its arbitration centers from other countries. These contracts may have nothing to do with Singapore other than stating they are governed by Singapore Law and its arbitration agencies. Other countries such as Hong Kong, Britain and Netherlands that also provide international arbitration are more expensive and farther away from Asian countries. Indian companies are particularly interested in this service as Singapore also uses the common law system and the English language.
