Subject: OASIS News from Scott

Dear OASIS Members,

Welcome to the second edition of OASIS News from Scott, thereby
proving this to be a regular event. I was pleased by the
response of the inaugural issue, as I received many kind comments
and requests for more information. But, like the late night
radio disk-jockey, I wonder how many people are really
"listening", so it's time for a test!

We are currently reevaluating the OASIS website as a tool to
deliver value to our members. We will be making changes, some
dramatic, some not so. Now is the time to put forth your input
to the following questions, so that the final design will better
reflect your needs. Your answers will not be graded and there
are no prizes for the best answers, but I do hope you give this
some thought and the courtesy of a reply.

Thinking back to your first visit to the OASIS website, why did
you go there and did you find what you were looking for?

When you now routinely visit the OASIS website, what feature or
features draw you there?

If you could add 2 things to the OASIS website, what would they
be?

When you surf through the OASIS website, what one thing do you
see there and feel could never be of value to you?

This concludes the difficult part of OASIS News from Scott.
Please submit your answers and continue on to the fun portion of
today's news.

Sharing Business Leads
Every once in a while, I see someone (primarily Ken Holman)
sharing business leads with the OASIS community that they cannot
handle. The response from both OASIS members and the potential
buyers has been positive. Therefore, I suggest everyone think of
the OASIS community when appropriate and use the
Announce@lists.oasis-open.org list to share business leads that
you think will be of value to someone on our community.

For example:
Larry Filby, at the California Department of Water Resources,
(Sacramento CA USA) manages several websites via 15 webmasters,
and is exploring how XML may best fit into their future. Their
desire is to manage their evolving websites as effectively as
possible, especially as they eye a future that includes on-line
transactions. You may visit their website www.dwr.water.ca.gov
for a view of what they are currently doing. Larry notes that
he is early in the exploratory process and is not ready for a
sales pitch from a single tool vendor. This lead seems best
suited to an XML consultant and/or someone in the training and
education area. You many contact Larry Filby at 916-653-7384 or
larry@water.ca.gov

OASIS Calendar
If you haven't done so recently, check the OASIS calendar for the
most comprehensive event calendar available and plan how to keep
up with this quickly evolving world of ours. I will be on the
Exhibit floor at XML One http://www.xmlconference.com/ in
Austin, TX March 29-30 at booth #202. If your travels include
the XML Leadership event,
http://www.brainstorm-group.com/bsgweb/index.asp?conf=1500610970
I will be at the Expo April 3-4, booth 127. If you will be at
either of these events, you must stop by and say hello and find
out why everyone says our giveaways are such a sweet deal.

That's it for this edition of Oasis News from Scott. Don't
forget to submit your answers to the above questions. I'm
listening.....
