CONSORTIUM HEADLINES
--------------------

"Results of Board of Directors Election"

On July 24, 2001, OASIS released the results of the recent Board of
Directors election. Jim Hughes of Hewlett-Packard, Christopher Kurt of
Microsoft, Simon Nicholson of Sun Microsystems and Michael Weiner of IBM
received the most votes and will become the newest members of the OASIS
Board, each serving two-year terms that begin in August.

In addition, the existing OASIS Board appointed Colin Evans of Intel to
serve out the term of Amy Krane of Enigma, who vacated her seat on the
Board earlier this year. As Colin placed fifth in the general
election--receiving just one vote less than the fourth candidate--the
Board is confident his appointment reflects well the intent of the
membership.

The new members of the Board join current OASIS directors, Patrick J.
Gannon, Una Kearns of Documentum and Norbert H. Mikula of DataChannel,
whose terms expire in 2002.

"OASIS to Sponsor XML Pavilion at COMDEX"

OASIS is excited to announce that COMDEX Fall 2001 will feature the XML
OASIS Pavilion, 1500 square feet of exhibit space reserved for OASIS member
companies. The XML OASIS Pavilion is a great opportunity for OASIS Sponsors
and Contributors to showcase their XML-based solutions to a large, targeted
audience at a fraction of the cost of a traditional COMDEX booth. (Please
see http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200107/msg00005.html for
the
complete announcement and information about how to participate.)

----------------------
CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

Conceptual Modeling Approaches" for e-Business to be held in conjunction
with the 20th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling. The location
is Yokohama, Japan on November 27-30, 2001. See:
http://www.ifi.uni-klu.ac.at/Conferences/eCOMO2001. The scope of the
workshop is very much in synch with what OASIS is doing with the United
Nations CEFACT in ebXML. Please submit all topics and/or questions to
Professor Heinrich (mayr@ifit.uni-klu.ac.at)

The Interoperability Summit

OASIS, along with several other standards groups and consortia from
around the world will gather in Orlando, Florida, 6-8 December 2001 for
the Interoperability Summit, the first in a series of inter-consortia
meetings aimed at identifying common ground and coordinating development
of electronic business specifications. The goal of the series is to identify
intersections between major horizontal and vertical groups
in order to promote acceptance of common models and approaches. The
benefit, through minimizing duplication and overlap, is a higher level of
interoperability. The first topic will be human resources, likely followed
by an event focused on procurement and/or financial services a few months
later.
