Subject: [OASIS members] False message on OASIS Members List
OASIS members- You received a misleading message, via our Members mail list, late yesterday with a subject line - WARNING - A SPAM Robot harvested your email address! This message is a spam message, it is not a warning from OASIS.. It is not an indication that your address has been harvested. The address that had been harvested is our mail list address members@lists.oasis-open.org which of course securely distributes mail to our members. The message you received was inadvertently distributed to the list. It was not deleted as are the dozens of other similar spam messages that attempt to hit our secure lists daily. Unfortunately, the same company that sells the harvested addresses also spams the same addresses with this "warning" to encourage the reader to "buy themselves off the harvested list". OASIS does not know if this actually works or if your reply simply confirms your email address to them as valid. We do not encourage any reply to that message. While this message distributed in error diminishes our previous flawless record of protecting our lists from spam, it is not an indication that you should unsubscribe from any OASIS mail list for fear of spam. We remain ever vigilant in protecting your mail address and ensuring our lists are not used for non-consortium business. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.
