Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments
and activities for the XML interoperability consortium.

New Board is Selected

The Consortium is pleased to announce the results of the 2003 OASIS Board of
Directors election. The following candidates have been elected to a two-year
term on the Board
of Directors:

John Borras, UK Office of e-Envoy
Eduardo Gutentag, Sun Microsystems
Jim Hughes, Hewlett-Packard
Chris Kurt, Microsoft Corporation

They will join current Board of Directors whose seats expire in 2004, Edward
Cobb of BEA, Colin Evans of Intel, Patrick Gannon of OASIS, and Laura Walker
of The Federal Reserve System.


We would like to thank each and every one of the 16 candidates whose time,
talents, and commitment to the Consortium made this such an exciting and
challenging election. We will rely on all the nominees for their continued,
active support of the work of OASIS as we move forward together. Also, we
would like to congratulate all the members of OASIS who participated in the
election process, by raising issues for the candidates, evaluating
qualifications, making tough decisions, and casting ballots.

A Special Note of Thanks

The members of the OASIS Digital Signature Services TC would like to
recognize Robert Zuccherato, Entrust, for his extraordinary
contributions as co-chair to the group. The members of the TC would also
like to extend warm wishes to Robert in his future endeavors.
The DSS TC is in the process of electing a new co-chair.

SPML Success at Catalyst

On 9 July, 10 members of the OASIS Provisioning Services TC successfully
demonstrated OASIS Service Provisioning Markup Language Specification (SPML)
v1.0 at the Catalyst Conference in San Francisco to a large (+1,100
attendees) audience. This was the second OASIS Interop Demo held at
Catalyst, last year OASIS sponsored the SAML Interop Demo.

OASIS Team Talks

21 July--Patrick Gannon will make a presentation at the 'Web Services eGov
Seminar' in Moscow.

24-25 July--Patrick Gannon will participate in the ITU Forum Summit in San
Francisco.
