OASIS News 4 August 2003 Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments, and activities for the international standards consortium. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Review the OASIS SAML Committee Spec v1.1 by 16 Aug The OASIS Security Services TC has submitted the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) specification v1.1, which is an approved Committee Specification, for review and consideration for approval by OASIS members to become an OASIS Standard. SAML is an XML-based framework for exchanging security information. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200307/msg00006.html --------------------------------------------------------------------- Review the OASIS XCBF Committee Spec v1.1 by 16 Aug The OASIS XML Common Biometric Format (XCBF) TC has submitted the XCBF XML Common Biometric Format Committee Specification v1.1, which is an approved Committee Specification, for review and consideration for approval by OASIS members to become an OASIS Standard. The overwhelming consensus supports the relevance and significance of standards based software development. http://www.delphigroup.com/research/whitepapers/20030728-standards.pdf --------------------------------------------------------------------- American Bar Association (ABA) Sponsor Technology Roundtable The eFiling Committee of the ABA Science & Technology Section in conjunction with the OASIS LegalXML eNotary TC will hold a roundtable entitled, “Trust is Technology Neutral.” The meeting, which will be attended by representatives from government agencies, notary officials, land title registrars, mortgage bankers, and others will focus on the technology standards for online electronic lending, motor vehicle and real estate transactions. The meeting will take place on 6-7 August as part of the activities of the annual ABA meeting to be held in the San Francisco law offices of Fenwick & West. For more details, please contact John H.
